Unless there’s a big model update, there’s not always too many changes going from one year to the next. That being said, we think that the differences between the 2016 Ford Escape and the 2015 Ford Escape are major enough that it will sway some buyers one way or the other.
Both the 2016 Ford Escape and 2015 Escape still do have a lot in common, though. They’re both rocking five total seats, with bucket seats in the front and a 60-40 folding bench in the back. You’ll also have the option to pick between front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. Both the 2016 and 2015 Escape models are also powered by the same engines, giving you a choice among the 2.5L I-4, 1.6L EcoBoost or 2.0L Ecoboost I-4 engine.
So what exactly are the differences between the 2016 Ford Escape and 2015 Escape? Well, the main difference that ends up swaying many people one way or the other is that the 2016 Ford Escape can be equipped with Ford’s powerful SYNC 3 infotainment system, which takes being able to control your entertainment options to a new level while driving.
The 2016 Ford Escape also has a few other features that aren’t found in the 2015 Escape. 911 assist is standard in the 2016 Escape, and there’s plenty of other safety features to be found in either model that are appealing. The 2016 Escape SE also comes standard with an acoustic laminated front-door side glass -- which will greatly decrease road noise, so you only hear your audio system. Speaking of which: if you’re a big fan of high-quality audio, then the premium audio system from Sony that is available in the Ford Escape was made just for you.
