There’s few comparison that come as close as the 2016 Ford Focus vs 2016 Chevy Cruze if you’re trying to shorten a list of compact, fuel efficient cars that you’re interested in. Part of why these two come so close is because they actually have a decent number of similarities. Both are roughly a similar size, and and a great option for those looking for an affordable car.


The base models on the 2016 Ford Focus and Chevy Cruze also come with similar entertainment options, including audio equipment. Both will allow you to connect your smartphone via Bluetooth or an auxiliary cord, and each even has a first row LCD screen as a standard features. The big distinction between the two is that the Focus comes with steering wheel audio controls standard, while it’s not available on the base Cruze.

A big difference when you compare the 2016  Ford Focus to the 2016 Chevy Cruze is the variety of models and trims offered. Both have the regular base, mid and high-end trims, but the Ford Focus also comes with additional trim levels that prioritise vehicle performance. Both the Focus ST and Focus RS offer an unparalleled level of performance for their respective price ranges, which are also very reasonable.


One of the biggest advantages of going with either vehicle is the fuel efficiency that you’ll receive. The base Ford Focus receives up to 36 MPG on the highway with its standard manual transmission, but upgrading to the automatic will bump you up to 40 MPG. The Cruze currently hasn’t been rated for efficiency, but GM is estimating it at 40 MPG as well. If you want to squeak out addition miles, though, you can also go with the award winning 1.0L I-3 EcoBoost engine or the Ford Electric model.
